Khadi

By Barindra

Khadi

Khadi is hand-spun, handwoven cloth with a visible, slightly uneven texture. Where we use it, and how it differs from our other fabrics.

Khadi is cloth that is hand-spun and handwoven. The hand-spun yarn gives it a visible, slightly uneven texture and a matte look. We use it for the achol of Haimanti, where its texture contrasts with the smooth semi muslin body.

What it looks and feels like

  • Texture: visible slubs and an uneven, handmade surface.
  • Finish: matte, no sheen.
  • Weather: breathable.

Care

Hand wash in cold water and dry in the shade. Khadi can shrink a little at first, so avoid hot water.
