Terracotta Motifs

The terracotta temples of Bengal, such as the Kantajew Temple in Dinajpur, are covered in carved clay panels. How those patterns inspired Kadambari.

Many old temples in Bengal are decorated with terracotta: panels of fired clay carved with flowers, geometric borders and scenes. The Kantajew Temple in Dinajpur is one of the best-known examples in Bangladesh.

Terracotta motifs on our sarees

Kadambari takes its floral and geometric block prints from this temple decoration and from the carving on vintage Bengali wooden doors, printed in mustard, green and maroon on red.
